Selfiee passed with a U/A certificate; a record fourth film for Akshay Kumar post-pandemic to be cleared with ZERO cuts

Selfiee

Selfiee will go on sale this week. The anticipation for Akshay Kumar‘s debut movie in 2023 is high thanks to the success of the teaser and the soundtrack. Also, the initial collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi has increased the buzz.

Selfiee was approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over two weeks ago, it has now come to light. The film received a U/A certificate from the CBFC examination committee. It’s interesting to note that the Censor Board did not impose any cuts, either audio or visual. On February 8, the certificate was given to the creators. According to the censor certificate, the movie is 143 minutes long. In other words, Selfiee has a 2 hour, 23 minute running time.

Selfiee is interestingly Akshay Kumar’s sixth film in the post-pandemic era and his second picture after Covid to receive zero cuts. It’s quite a feat at a time when the CBFC has turned rather harsh and ruthless with the films’ content.

Bellbottom (2021), Akshay Kumar’s first movie following the epidemic, received a U/A rating with no cuts. This also occurred with his following release, Sooryavanshi (2021). Subsequently, his family show Raksha Bandhan (2022) received a “U” certificate without any alterations. Yet, because of its action scenes and double-meaning speech, Bachchhan Paandey (2022) was censored. In four different spots in Samrat Prithviraj (2022), CBFC requested dialogue adjustments. Finally, Ram Setu (2022) also had some dialogue censorship and substitutions.

Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty are featured in Selfiee in addition to Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi. Raj Mehta, known for the films Nice Newz (2019) and JugJugg Jeeyo (2022), is the film’s director and it debuts on February 24. It is an official remake of the Driving License movie from Malayalam in 2019.
